BAROCCO

For the Salone del Mobile 2022 Atelier Molayem presents the "Baroque" earring, inspired by the artistic and architectural movement born in Italy during the 17th century and spread throughout Europe. A completely new current, in antithesis to the "classical" canon, comparable to the generation of Italian artists and architects active in papal Rome. The art of Bernini and Borromini are a perfect example of this.

The term itself derives from the French adjective baroque and the Portuguese barroco to describe a type of irregularly shaped pearls. At the end of the 17th century it acquired the term "bizarre", "ridiculous", "extravagant"; sometimes even in a derogatory sense to indicate something clumsy, heavy, artificial.

Over time the word "baroque" has changed its meaning, indicating par excellence the artistic period and the historical evolution of a production whose dominant sign is the interaction and fusion between all the arts in monuments, squares and spatial structures, primarily of Rome baroque, giving life to a new aesthetic culture.

The “Baroque” earring embodies this spirit: the dialogue between the ancient and modernity, the link between the “heaviness” of a baroque frame and the sinuosity of the shapes; a twisting of the elements that produces “lightness”. The earring gracefully caresses the lobe, wrapping it in a single movement devoid of static but, rather, full of luminous dynamism around the face. A harmonious, living jewel that inherits the past and projects it into the future.

Atelier Molayem reinterprets the concept of Baroque by presenting this new jewel, inviting you to the presentation of the exhibition space where you can admire the dialogue between aesthetics, cultures and artefacts from different eras, in the installation 'La Fortuna è Cieca' created together with Claudio Loria, mind creativity by Leclettico.
